Wednesday morning Inspired Painting class
A structured painting course with set projects
Learn from the methods of recognised artists. The course will be divided into 4 separate projects; at the start of each topic we will take inspiration from a well-known artist's work. A brief introduction about the artist will be given and some relevant painting techniques will be demonstrated. Projects will be flexible, allowing you to introduce your own ideas and sources of inspiration. Classes will include plenty of 'hands on' painting practise with individual help from the tutor.
This course is suitable for people with some basic painting experience. It is ideal for those that would like to experiment with new techniques and learn more about different methods of painting. It can also provide a sense of direction for people that have not yet found their own painting style.
Discover new creative methods using acrylics, soft pastels and watercolours
During the autumn course we will take inspiration from Australian art, a topic which should provide a welcome diversion from our own seasonal weather! We will only be able to look a few selected painting styles, but artwork will be very diverse, so this should still give you a taste of Australian culture and geography. We will begin by studying the traditional techniques of aboriginal artists, and discover the impact that colonial rule had on their art. We will then explore work by recent artists that have been greatly influenced by modern European art movements such as Impressionism and Surrealism.
